bio:

Hi! My name is Natalie and I am a resident in counseling approved by the Virginia Board of Counseling and am working towards my licensure. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Mason University.

I am passionate about mental health and advocating for individuals who are looking for extra support. Whether you're interested in starting therapy for the first time, or engaging again to reinforce skills, I aim to provide a safe space where you feel welcome and heard. My role is to listen, and provide feedback into thoughts and behaviors that may be contributing to difficulty, while also offering insight into your strengths that already exist.

Because everyone is unique, I use a holistic approach in counseling to target my interventions to what you personally need. This may include but is not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Strengths Based Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy. Collaboratively we can come up with a plan that will help you reach optimal functioning and satisfaction.

I have experience working with teens, adults, and couples on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, grief and loss, self esteem issues, emotional dysregulation and difficult life transitions. I enjoy assisting clients in identifying goals, improving boundaries and relationships, developing new skills and techniques and uncovering new options moving forward. We can work together to explore and create meaningful changes while utilizing the strengths you already have. You are an expert in your own life which means we’ll collaborate together to come up with a treatment plan that will work best for you.

I am currently working under the supervision of Stephanie Buchanan, LPC.
